Ajax,TCASD and I

Hi! My name is Thiviyaah Pushparajah and I am 14 years old. I was born in Norway on September 2, 1993. I came to Canada in 2002 and it was difficult to learn and speak English. Coming to Canada was the best decision my parents made!

I have been in Ajax for 4 years and it is wonderful place to live in. It is a quit place to live and has many opportunities for everyone such as jobs, education and volunteer services. Ajax is a rich in diversity town that strongly enhances community relations. The multi-faith and multi-cultural groups in the city are important to me. I thank everyone for the great work they do in maintaining their cultures and working with other residents in Durham to contribute to a better city.


The Tamil Cultural and Academic Society of Durham provide the opportunity for Tamil youth and adults to unite and participate in activities that enhance Tamil culture. Being a member in TCASD, I try to be a role model for others, care for the elders, and assist the needy in our community and our homeland. Our association has successfully organized several cultural and community events this years. It gives us a great opportunity for us to gain knowledge of what it takes to be successful.


Working with the children gave me the earning experience in time management. It helps me to organize my work better. Furthermore, it taught me how to get along with very young children.

I am looking forwards to many events to come where I can participate and contribute to our society.
